Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information Sooda ("the App") collects, how it is used, and your choices. We aim to collect only what is needed to run the App.

Information We Collect

Account identifiers. When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive a unique user identifier and, if you permit it, your email address.
Chat content. The messages you send and the AI responses are stored so your conversations have continuity and memory.
Profile & onboarding details. Information you choose to share (such as interests) to match you with suitable AI friends.
Usage data. In-app activity such as energy/usage counts, used to operate features and prevent abuse.
Push token. A device notification token, so friends can send you messages as notifications (you can turn notifications off in system settings).

How We Use Information

To provide, personalize, and improve the App and its conversations.
To generate AI responses and maintain conversation memory.
To send notifications you have enabled.
To maintain your account, apply your subscription, and prevent misuse.

Third-Party Services

To operate the App we share the minimum necessary data with service providers who process it on our behalf:

OpenAI — generates chat responses and powers the onboarding assistant (your messages are sent for processing).
Typecast — text-to-speech voice generation (a friend's message text is sent to synthesize audio when you tap "listen").
Supabase — authentication, database, and media storage.
Render — server hosting.
Apple — Sign in with Apple, subscription billing, and push notifications (APNs).
Google — Google Sign-In.

We do not sell your personal information.

AI Disclosure

The "friends" in the App are AI characters, not real people. Conversations are processed by AI systems as described above.

Data Retention & Deletion

We keep your chat messages for up to 90 days, after which older messages are automatically deleted. Your friends' memory of you (a short summary of key details) and your account persist while your account is active, so conversations stay continuous even after older messages are removed. You can delete your account at any time in Settings → Account → Delete Account; this removes your messages, relationships, and usage data from our database and deletes your sign-in identity. Some records may persist briefly in backups before being overwritten.

Your Rights & Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can delete your account and associated data yourself in Settings → Account → Delete Account, or contact us at the address below to exercise any of these rights. We will not discriminate against you for exercising them.

California residents. We do not sell your personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. You have the right to know, delete, and correct your personal information as described above.

Children & Minors

The App is intended for users aged 16 and older. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe someone under 16 has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

International Users

Your information may be processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate, which may have different data protection laws than your country.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes

We may update this Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date reflects the latest revision.
